What is the Repeat
Repeat (sometimes also called Rapport) is a number in meters or centimeters, marking the lenght (interval) after which the wallpaper pattern repeats. Tiny patterns have the repeat only a few centimeters, large designs’ repeat may be even a few decimeters. Repeat is usually not greater than the width of the wallpaper roll, but you can find even such designs. You will recognize it easily – the roll of the wallpaper will only contain the right or the left half of the pattern.
The repeat is important in calculating the required amount of wallpaper. When you hang the wallpaper, you can position the strips of wallpaper next to each other, aligning the pattern vertically, or you can shift the pattern repeat in exactly half its lenght on the next strip. It depends on the designer’s concept (then the possibility of the shift is indicated on the label) or the imagination of the customer who chooses this shift. It is certain that the longer pattern Repeat means higher consumption of wallpaper.
